Transforming Your Space with Cushion Covers*
I love the idea of changing up your room décor to suit the season, but I’m baffled by how people can justify spending money on a wholenew bed set for Christmas. Admittedly, now the chillier months have arrived, I’ve picked up some warm-toned fairy lights, a faux fur rug and some copper accessories to give my room a festive feel, but anything more than this is simply out of my budget. Nevertheless, a relatively inexpensive and super simple way of transforming your space is swapping your cushion covers. This way, you can keep your old cushions, whilst injecting a fresh new look into your bedroom with brand new ones. Here I’ve rounded up some of my favourite cushion covers that I’ve found online, including some from Yorkshire Linen's shop, who kindly collaborated with me to write this post.
Nothing says cosy like a gorgeous plaid pattern. Yorkshire Linen have quite a selection of beautiful checks to choose from when it comes to cushion covers, from rich ruby reds to muted greys. Their raspberry chequered cushion cover would bring a traditional feel to any room, whilst this charming grey plaid would go perfectly in my room.
If you fancy splashing a little more cash on your cushions, the Archie Denim collection is absolutely divine. Bringing a luxurious British feel with them, these cushions would go perfectly with dark brown leather.
Printed to perfection
Etsy is always my go-to site for unique designs and lovingly handmade pieces. I’ve completely fell in love with these Roald Dahl inspired cushion covers by Heavelyideasuk. Featuring some of the Quentin Blake illustrations from the famous children’s books, they’d go perfectly in a reading nook or scattered on your bed. My personal favourites have to be the Fantastic Mr Fox and Matilda designs, but Heavenlyideasuk have so many striking designs at really affordable prices, so make sure you check out the rest of their listings too.
Feeling the faux fur
One of my favourite things about winter is that I get to wear my faux fur coat! Why not take that magic to the bedroom with some fluffy cushion covers? Matalan have a huge range of faux fur pillows in an array of colours, meaning you can make your room cosy, whatever the colour scheme. I’m eyeing up this gorgeous pink pillow; I do love my neutrals at the moment, but I’m always up for adding in a splash of colour.
Keep it cosy
Of course, there are plenty of other fabrics out there that are equally as snuggly as fur. This mink velvet cover from Yorkshire Linen for example will add a soft texture to your bed that is perfect for winter. In the meantime, these jumbo cord cushion covers are a staple for those chilly morning lie-ins. I personally adore the spiced orange cover, ideal for a beautiful autumnal look.
Designing my own cushion covers is something I’ve wanted to do for a long time and it’s a great way to get creative and produce something unique. Hobbycraft have a whole range of patterns for zipped cushion covers and heart shaped pillows, and many of them are absolutely free to download. Alternatively their cosy knitted cushion kit would make a lovely gift for yourself, or someone else.
