Organic, nourishing and cruelty-free. What's not to love about Green People?

Green People was established over two decades ago by Charlotte Vøhtz - a mother on a mission to create skincare that was gentle on her daughter's sensitive, eczema-prone skin.

Today, the company offers a complete range of certified organic products that protect, nourish, balance and respect our bodies.

I recently tried their Velvet Matte Lipstick in Damask Rose, which was specially created to celebrate the 20th birthday of the company.

At first, I was apprehensive to try this shade; I don't do pink lipstick and red or brown are my go-tos. But, this is because I've never found a pink that quite suits me.

Until now.

The colour.

Thanks to its muted tone, Green People's Damask Rose seems to work well with any outfit and occasion, offering a fresh, natural look that is perfect for spring.

It's also not super-shiny. I love a good matte lipstick and this one certainly fits the bill, without drying my mouth out.

In fact, I've almost completely forgotten about my beloved red in recent weeks. I have been reaching for this on a daily basis because it's just so easy to wear.

What's in it?

Filled with nourishing ingredients, it leaves my lips feeling soft and well-looked after. The key ingredients are Carnuba wax, sunflower, beeswax and castor.

What I love about the Green People website is the fact that you can find out more about each ingredient they use. For example, did you know sunflower seeds are full of linoleic acid? It's fab for calming the skin and helps you to retain moisture.

I personally love looking into ingredients and their benefits, whether it's in the foods I'm eating or the products I'm applying to my skin.

Longevity.

A huge selling point for me when it comes to lipstick is its longevity. I work long days and I'm pretty lazy when it comes to maintaining my face throughout the day.

For something so moisturising and completely natural, the Velvet Matte stick stays on pretty damn well. Of course, it's not as hardy as some of the more robust matte stains I have tried in the past, but you can't really get a hydrating formula that also sticks to your lips like glue.

Things to consider.

Whilst Green People is a cruelty-free brand, this product does contain Beeswax, so it's not vegan. However, the company are committed to using sustainable beeswax, which essentially means that it is gathered from certified organic hives that are located far away from areas that have been treated with chemicals.

Meanwhile, at £16.50, it's not the cheapest product on the market, but it also isn't the most expensive lipstick, either.

I would say this is a fair price for the quality of product you're getting, as well as the fact everything the company uses is organic.

Final thoughts.

As you can probably tell, I am currently obsessed with this lipstick shade and formula. Like I said, I am choosing this over my usual red tones so this is a big deal.

And, for the Green People brand, I'm already looking for my next purchase. Currently, I'm eyeing up some of their intensive hair conditioners and their volumising mascaras.
